Fireworks Over the Matanzas Returns July 4

Fireworks Begin at 9:00pm

The City of St. Augustine will celebrate Independence Day on Saturday, July 4, with Fireworks Over the Matanzas. The festivities begin at 6:00 p.m. with a free concert by The All-Star Orchestra in the Plaza de la Constitución, followed by a 20-minute fireworks display at 9:00 p.m. over Matanzas Bay. Visitors are encouraged to arrive early, take advantage of free Park & Ride shuttle service from Anastasia Island, and review parking, traffic, and road closure information before heading downtown for this annual community celebratio

Watch the fireworks in Palatka from the rooftop of the River Center with patriotic music, popcorn, kids glow sticks;, photo booth, and specatacular views of the fireworks.  Call 386-530-1990.  Cost is only $10

A mayoral debate for Palatka will take place Tuesday July 21 from 6 to 8pm at the Robert h Jenkins Jr Community Center I Palatka at 1100 North 18th Street.

The Women’s Club of Palatka is having a Bingo fundraiser on Saturday August 1st  with doors opening at 12:30.  The Bingo pack is $75. Call 386-546-3576 to sign up by July 15th.

Concerts in the Plaza bring back the feeling of warm summer evenings when friends and families gathered in the town square to enjoy music and dancing. This popular event returns to downtown St. Augustine with live performances all summer long. The concert series features talented local and regional musicians. To celebrate America 250, this year’s concerts will highlight Americana music and other styles that are an important part of America’s musical history.

Located in the heart of downtown St. Augustine, the Plaza sits between Cathedral Place and King Street, just west of the Bridge of Lions. Each week, musicians perform from the Gazebo, which has stood in the center of the Plaza for nearly 100 years.

Concerts take place every Thursday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. If there are weather delays or cancellations, updates will be posted on the city website homepage by 5:00 PM on the day of the concert.

The Interlachen Fire Department will have Breakfast on the first Saturday of each month at 217 Kennedy Street in Interlachen.  Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children with pancakes, eggs, sausage, biscuits, gravy, grits and toast.

There are new locations for drop off of food items for feed the need.  You can drop off at both Palatka Ameris bank locations, Putnam county school district office, the hospital, and at chips water works in the industrial warehouse site.  They are looking for non-perishable food items for backpacks for kids with pop tops if possible.
